In the electrophysiology laboratory she is studying the role of TNFα on the astrocytes  in pathological conditions, particularly in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), a mouse model of Multiple Sclerosis.

Techniques used: PCR, immunohistochemistry, Western blot analysis. Giovanna Zappia is also in charge of the investigation of molecules distribution linked to Sulforhodamine B in astrocytes. Preparation of solutions, Data management, procurement of laboratory supplies.
